I’ve seen a few of these for sale lately and have been surprised by just how reasonable the prices seem to be.

I’ve always wanted to get something like that and “Red Pig” the thing.

Seeing the price on this one had me thinking about a loan. I’m not going to, but still. It’s also at a Mercedes specialist, which helps raise the desire.

Since the Grosser is the Dictator’s car, this would be what the Dictator’s brother-in-law’s car?

Yeah, I wouldn’t take out a loan, but it’s good to know there are still affordable classics to be found. Being at a specialist and recent valve work does make it more tempting. Hopefully recent means hardened seats for unleaded.

Price looks fair for an early car - these just don’t bring the big bucks. This was as tepid of a W108 as you could get, funny to look at it and think this was the base car. Not sure I would call those dog dish hubcaps, they are just the standard hubcaps without beauty/trim rings, as was common for the basic model. If the AC works, I wonder how it impacts performance.
These old I6s do seem to often need valve work, nice that it has been done, and the steering wheel is a nice touch too. Maybe knock a little off, and be happy. You can do a lot worse for the money, and hard to get this much class for the money.
Value may be increasing annually, but maybe just pacing inflation.

This is an established MB specialist shop, so I would assume this car is in pretty great mechanical shape.

If it got a clean bill of health maybe with a time-based warranty against major failure, that would help too.
Price is probably negotiable, it could be a good entrance into the old car hobby for the right person.
